Laxgalts'ap In Home Care

Purpose: Facilitate services to assist the Laxgalts'ap elderly and handicapped to keep their independence in their own home and allow them to be close to their loved ones as long as possible. Assessment based to ensure that the plan for the required care is right and is provided by the right caregiver at the right time.

Home Care Coordinator Duties include:

  • Client assessment
  • Networking with the Nisga'a Valley Health Institution
  • Networking with the village government resources
  • Supervise and coordinate the Laxgalts'ap Village Government Home Support Program
  • Provide services to help people maintain their independence in the home

“I was honored to be a part of the Laxgalts'ap 2007 Career Expo. I was struck by the beauty of the area and the warmth of the people. 

Everyone was very open and giving, sharing their stories with me – their trials and their triumphs as well as showing me their carvings and art.

The biggest honor for me came when I was able to wear the regalia and have my photo taken with the children in Gitwinksihlkw.  I truly felt welcomed by the community.”
