Nisga’a Language and Culture:

Our themes are based on monthly, community and traditional events.

Language and cultural activities are an important part of our curriculum, whether they involve singing, cultural dancing, hunting/fishing & seasons

Elders of our community play an important role in teaching our children about the natural world around them.

Activities are designed to:

  • build self confidence
  • develop language & communication skills
  • improve coordination
  • increase interest in books, environment and people
  • introduce new/old ideas

At our center we believe every child is special and every child is a unique individual.

“I was honored to be a part of the Laxgalts'ap 2007 Career Expo. I was struck by the beauty of the area and the warmth of the people.

Everyone was very open and giving, sharing their stories with me – their trials and their triumphs as well as showing me their carvings and art.

The biggest honor for me came when I was able to wear the regalia and have my photo taken with the children in Gitwinksihlkw.  I truly felt welcomed by the community.”
