Learn About LVG

The Lax̱g̱altsʼap Village Government consists of six councillors and one chief councillor, elected by the members of Lax̱g̱altsʼap community. These elected officials oversee local programs, policies, budget, and laws. Elections take place every four years.

The council operates under Nisg̱a’a Nation laws and is responsible for local municipal issues. Lax̱g̱altsʼap chief and councillors also sit on the Wilp Si’ayuukhl Nisg̱a’a, the 36-member legislative body that governs the whole Nisg̱a’a Nation.

The Lax̱g̱altsʼap Village Government is supported by a team of professional staff who help implement their vision by drafting policies, creating and managing programs, and providing administrative services, all guided by the village’s strategic plan.
