Directions to Laxgalts’ap

Lax̱g̱alts’ap is approximately 150 kilometres north of Terrace, BC, via Nisga’a Highway 113.*

*The number 113 was assigned to the Nisga’a Highway to commemorate the 113 years (from 1887 – 2000) of negotiation that led to the Nisg̱a’a Final Agreement, which gave the Nisga’a control over their lands and resources.

Driving distance from Vancouver is 1400 kilometres, a trip of about 18 hours which takes you though iconic forest and mountain scenery. We recommend bringing a map, filling your tank in advance, and ensuring you have refreshments before leaving Terrace, as amenities along the final stretch of highway are limited.

From Vancouver Island, you can take an overnight ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, followed by a 280-kilometre drive to Lax̱g̱alts’ap. The whole trip takes about 18 – 20 hours, most of it on the ferry.

The closest airport is the Northwest Regional Airport located in Terrace.
